D.I.Y Natural Face Scrub for Dry Skin
Recently I have realized my skin become dryer no matter how much cream I put on, it sucks it up in no time, and is back to being dry in a couple hours. So after waking up with my face feeling 2 sizes too small, I thought it is time to pamper it the natural way. Here is a recipe I have used over the years, and almost forgot how great it felt. If you have dry skin, this could work for you. The scrub really gets into your pores, and then once you wash it off a thin layer of coconut oil moisturizes your skin to give you a beautiful glow. Disclaimer: As I am not a professional make sure to try it out on a little patch of skin, incase you get a bad reaction.
- 1 tsp organic coconut oil (has antioxidant properties to help with skin looking young, and moisturized)
- 1tsp organic honey (helps absorb and retain moisture)
- 1 1/2 tsp sea salt (helps scrub of dead skin)
- 1/3 tsp freshly squeezed lemon juice ( helps exfoliate the skin, as well as brighten it up)
Mix in the coconut oil and honey. Slowly add in the lemon juice, just enough to soften the mixture up, but not liquify it, and lastly add in the sea salt. Since the coconut oil does solidify, and melts at your touch, I like to place the mixture in the fridge until it solidifies.
Some side notes: Since there is lemon, and sea salt make sure to keep the scrub away from your eyes. Also do not be too rough on your skin, scrub lightly for a minute or more. Then wash the scrub off for at least 30 seconds. The coconut oil might feel very thick on your skin while it is still wet, but just wait to dry off the water, and it usually is just enough moisture. However if it is still too thick just wash some more off.
